Staten Island Zoo
The Staten Island Zoo is a small zoo located on Clove Road. The zoo
originally opened in 1936 in a place called Barret Park. The zoo was originally
opened to house a large reptile collection, and currently has one of the most
extensive collections of rattlesnakes in the United States.
The zoo is also the home of Staten Island Chuck, a groundhog who is the official Groundhog Day forecaster for New York City.
