The Staten Island Mall features major department stores including Macy's, Sears, and JC Penney. The Staten Island Mall is the only indoor shopping mall in the borough. The Mall is located in New Springville on Richmond Avenue. Its location is center of the island. The Mall first opened for business on August 9, 1973, built on a 105 acre site of what was once an airport. It is the largest retail center on the island and is also the site of the island's second largest public transit hub, Yukon, after the St. George ferry terminal.
