Budweiser loyalists sighing in their beer
by Staten Island Advance Tuesday July 15, 2008
With a new owner, Budweiser will soon be as American as Belgian waffles.
Ronnie Nordenholt, who has seen dozens of pubs and the landmark R&H Brewery shut down in his Stapleton neighborhood, took the news that his favorite beer brand, Budweiser, would no longer be American-owned yesterday with the unflinching resignation of somebody familiar with change.
"I found out that nothing stays the same," said the 78-year-old yesterday as he brought a frothy pint of Budweiser to his lips at Lee's Tavern, Dongan Hills. "I'll keep drinking it; what else can you do?"

The only thing that bothers me about this sale is that Bud is no longer American owned but then again any company being traded on the stock market probably has a considerable number of foreign stock holders. It is a Global economy.

I was a beer drinker for years, started with R&H, moved to Piels, then Lucky Logger, San Migel, Olympia, Gunther, Carlings, all of the wonderful beers in Europe, Coors, Kerin, Michalobe (the only Bud product I drank aside from at crab feasts and other picnic activities when only Bud was available) and now back in California it's mostly Corona but not to much of that. Drinking for me now is mostly water with an occasional glass of wine.
I love Bud for it's sponsorship of sporting events not for its beer. I hope the new owners keep the sports in TV.
